Designed by Géza Márkus and built in 1903 in the Art Nouveau style, the Ornamented Palace (Cifrapalota) is one of the most iconic landmarks of the city of Kecskemét.
Its unique atmosphere is created by the magnificent Zsolnay ceramic decorations adorning its façade, its ceremonial hall famous for the eight peacocks decorating the ceiling, and its charming inner courtyard.
Elegant, historic and harmonious, the building is home to fine art, archaeology, history and local history exhibitions. In addition to its permanent and temporary exhibitions, the museum hosts educational programmes, family experiences programmes, social and corporate events, wedding photo sessions and concerts.
Visitors are invited to embrace the experience of slow culture—to slow down, disconnect from the rush of everyday life, and immerse themselves in art, history and cultural heritage at their own pace. Through inspiring exhibitions and meaningful cultural experiences, the museum encourages a deeper appreciation of the stories, traditions and artistic treasures of Kecskemét, offering enriching experiences for visitors of all ages.
Throughout the year, the museum also participates in numerous national and local cultural events, including the Day of Hungarian Culture, International Museum Day, Hungarian Archaeology Day, Museum Night, European Heritage Days, the Autumn Festival of Museums, as well as Kecskemét’s major city festivals and cultural events.
