Permanent and Temporary Exhibitions

Bozsó János (1922–1998), a Munkácsy Prize-winning painter and art collector, donated his private collection to his hometown, Kecskemét.

The exhibitions present the material culture of Hungarian folk art from the 16th to the 19th centuries. Painted furniture, pottery, shepherds’ carvings and ornately decorated tools can be seen in the 18th-century section of the building.

The applied arts exhibition features outstanding works of European decorative art from the Renaissance to the Biedermeier period, including finely crafted metalwork, glassware, porcelain and ornate furniture.

The ecclesiastical art exhibition presents artistic expressions of religious devotion, including Baroque wooden sculptures, pewter vessels used in Reformed religious life, Eastern Orthodox icons and mementos from pilgrimage sites.

Thematic selections showcase the works of painter Bozsó János. Drawing on the traditions of Hungarian landscape painting, he captured the Great Hungarian Plain in passionate, expressive brushstrokes. The ever-changing interplay of light and shadow gives his art its distinctive dynamism, while its powerful emotional intensity captivates the viewer.

The temporary exhibitions of the Bozsó Collection feature works by renowned Hungarian masters as well as significant private collections. Visitors can also see the unique clock collection of Hanga István, a clockmaker from Kecskemét.

Exhibition opening hours: Thursday to Sunday, 10:00–18:00.
